Somedays you wake up tired even after sleeping the entire night. Not because your body is exhausted, but your mind is. A person suffering from depression can be working regularly, following the routine and still be feeling empty and lonely from inside. The symptoms of depression can be different from person to person and can range from mild to severe.
People claim that there’s nothing such as depression, its just laziness, but the person suffering from it knows that how difficult it is to perform basic routines and tasks.
If you are someone suffering from depression, you would have heard people saying “it’s just laziness”, “you are overreacting” , “stop taking everything seriously” etc. But the ones who are making this statements will never realise how painful and difficult it is for you to listen all of them and how you feel even more devastated by the lack of your loved ones understanding you
“Depression is not the absence of happiness. It is the exhaustion of carrying pain for too long.”
There is a quiet kind of tiredness that sleep doesn’t fix.
A kind of heaviness that coffee, vacations, or motivational quotes can’t lift.
That’s what depression often feels like.
You might still go to work
You might still smile in photos.
You might still reply “I’m fine” when people ask.
And yet, inside, everything feels dim, distant, or unbearably heavy.
Depression doesn’t always look like crying in bed all day. Sometimes it looks like functioning on autopilot while feeling empty inside.
And if you’re reading this for someone you love, understand that depression is not laziness, negativity, or weakness. It is a real condition that changes how a person thinks, feels, and experiences the world.
Depression is a mental health condition that affects a person’s emotions, thoughts, energy, and sense of self. It goes far beyond feeling sad or having a bad day.
Over time, these thoughts don’t feel like thoughts anymore they feel like facts.
Depression can make life feel meaningless, slow, or unbearably exhausting. Even things that once brought joy may feel flat or distant.
Depression does not look the same for everyone. Some people fall apart outwardly. Others hold themselves together while quietly struggling.
Many people with depression say they don’t feel “sad” they feel disconnected from life.
If these feelings last more than two weeks, start affecting your daily life, or make you feel stuck, hopeless, or overwhelmed it’s time to seek help.
You don’t need to be “at your worst” to deserve support.
And if someone you love is going through this, encouraging them to speak to a mental health professional can be one of the most caring things you do.
Depression is not caused by a lack of motivation, gratitude, or faith. It is a mental health condition shaped by brain chemistry, life experiences, stress, trauma, and emotional patterns.

Motivation might feel good for a moment. But therapy helps change the roots of the problem.

Among these, CBT is one of the most effective treatments for depression.
CBT focuses on the link between: Thoughts – Feelings – Behaviour
Depression creates a loop of negative thinking that keeps people stuck. CBT helps break that loop by teaching people to:
If you are struggling with depression: You are not weak. You are not broken. You are not alone. What you’re feeling is real, and help can make things better.
If you are reading this for someone else: Your patience, understanding, and willingness to listen matter more than you know.
Depression lies , but healing is real.
